MELBOURNE, FL – September 17, 2015 – On September 16, 2015, GrayRobinson’s Melbourne office hosted a Community Leader Forum featuring Bob Gabordi, Executive Editor of Florida Today. His topic of discussion was "Next Generation Media."
His presentation discussed Florida Today’s core values, the evolution of media, and the virtual reality of storytelling. Over three quarters of Brevard County adults read Florida Today (at least monthly) and over half at least weekly. By becoming more active on social media and making the site mobile friendly, he hopes younger audiences will continue to become more involved.
Florida Today is more active in the community now than ever – sponsoring drives to remove trash from local waterways and keep the environment clean. One recent example is Florida Today’s partnership with Keep Brevard Beautiful (KBB) for the KBB Summer Series. That effort removed four tons of trash from area beaches.
Gabordi was named executive editor at Florida Today in December 2014. Previously he was the executive editor of the Tallahassee Democrat for 10 years. Under his leadership, the Tallahassee Democrat won Florida Society of News Editors awards in two of last three years for investigative reporting. His career with Gannett Company, Inc. (owners of the Democrat and Florida Today) has spanned 35 years and included jobs in Norwich, Connecticut; Gannett New Media; Gannett News Service; North Hills, Pennsylvania; Marietta, Ohio; Huntington, West Virginia; Springfield, Virginia; and Jackson, Tennessee. He is a four-time recipient of the Gannett President's Ring.
Gabordi graduated from Roger Williams University with a degree in political studies and Northeastern University with an MBA.
Through its Community Leader Forums, GrayRobinson brings together clients, attorneys and friends of the firm to hear high-profile business and community leaders and elected officials discuss issues of importance to the state of Florida.
